The Aminavast for cats and small dogs dosage is 300mg/60 ct. for cats (and dogs up to 20 lbs.): That is, 1 or 2 caps 2x a day. The dosage for Aminavast shown here, for dogs, is 1000mg/cap. !000mg for this item (or the 300mg for cats) refers to the combination of ingredients, some kind of proprietary mix. Not sure why there is no photo of the bottle label list of the ingredients for this as is shown for a gazillion other supplements sold here on Amazon. Had to search online to find out more details. Should all be right here for customers to review on Amazon,. As I write this, the Aminavast for cats isn't available on Amazon (9/17/16); disappointing, so had to order elsewhere.

Active Ingredients per capsule: AB070597* (Glycine, L-Aspartic acid, L-Glutamic acid, L-Glutamine, L-Carnosine, L-Histidine, L-Arginine) 1000 mg; *patent pending. Inactive ingredients: Gelatin (from capsules), Magnesium Stearate and Stearic Acid.

Q: Does this item work on a protein diet?

My cat is going to be 21 in May and it is helping her. I met someone at my veterinarian's office whose cat is 23 and is taking Aminavast. I also use Azodyl and Baby Jarrodophilus. These ingredients are really good for the kidneys. Protein is not good for kidneys but cats do have to eat it. However, it's best if they eat the greasiest part of the cat food because calories from grease is easier on the kidneys than calories from protein. So I make sure to mix these ingredients in the greasiest part of the cat food so she eats that first. But I don't use any special diet like Kidney Diet. I use an organic canned cat food from Paul Newman. You can also make your own cat food.
